Lesson 4 - Principle 5

AFTER RECOGNIZING THE EXACT NATURE, CAUSE, AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY SIN, I’M NOW READY FOR THE NEXT STEP TOWARD FREEDOM IN CHRIST. I NOW RECOGNIZE THE NEED FOR ACCOUNTABILITY IN ORDER TO HELP ME MAINTAIN A TRUTHFUL AND OPEN WALK WITH JESUS AND MAN. THEREFORE, I’M WILLING TO CONFESS MY SINS TO GOD AND ANOTHER PERSON, AND IN DOING SO, I SOLIDIFY THE TRUTH OF MY SIN FOR THE FIRST TIME.

This principle is the first in the series that I must take in order truly to experience the freedom available to me in Christ. When I confess my sins to God and someone else, I begin to initiate the process that will result in my no longer carrying the condemnation, guilt, and shame that has burdened me throughout my lifetime of addiction (Psalms 32:3).

Principle 5 is also a beginning for healing. See Psalms 32:5-7. As I begin to confess these hidden sins, the LORD will begin to heal me of maladies like ulcers, tumors, depression, double-mindedness, or illnesses. These afflicted me because of my ignorance or inner conflict that went on inside of me because of unconfessed sin (Ezekiel 36:31-35, James 5:16). Remember, sin is defined three ways by the scriptures.
